Random musings and discussions around anything related to the 7th Sea 2nd Edition

I'm having a hard crush on this article.  I absolutely love the idea of turning characters' motives and interests into "actions" to help portray them.  It makes a lot of sense to me.  I'm not a big fan of FATE or AW.  I personally find the concept of "Moves" to be...lacking.  That's not really my take-away from this article though.  Usually when you puzzle out an NPC, you might give them some physical, mental, or personality traits to fill in some details.

Happy New Year everyone.

And a big "thank you" to all of you for making this community a great place for fans of 7th Sea to visit.

This year also marks the 1st anniversary of 7th Sea 2e and John Wick's most successful Kickstarter.

Let us use this year to reflect on how far we have all come and the journey that still lies ahead.

Let us also share ideas on other things we could do to expand the reach of fan-made content.

Hopefully, when John Wick Presents readies the Explorers Society, you can all publish content there.

Hi everyone!

I wasn´t sure if this question would fit better in this topic, or in the "Answers from developers", so here we go:

I have one big doubt about the Dievas binded to Losejas. Are they invisible or not? If they are visible, do they walk with their Losejas, or do they have any kind of mental connection for the pourpose of asking the deals and favors attached to that Dievas?

So I was adding some details to my brainstormed list of proto-NPCs when it dawned on me that a lot of them weren't very...piratey.  That is, very few of them would be at home in the Port Royal or Tortuga of Pirates of the Caribbean, or make sense aboard a pirate ship.  So in response to this, I started to brainstorm a list of archetypal characters that WERE piratey.

Here's a first stab at a high seas random encounter table.  I know a lot of folks around here aren't big fans of such things, but I like having an element of randomness in my games.  And since the new edition encourages so much improvisation, it makes even more sense to have tools that allow the unexpected to occur.  Several entries are incomplete at this time, but I'm working on it.

A bit of prep from my 2017 campaign.  Some random consequences to liven up brute fights on the docks.  Roll once for each player at the beginning of a new round.

Dockside Battle Consequences

d10    Consequence

1    Slip on a slick spot (oil, fish guts, etc)

2    Stumble on a loose plank.*

3    Backed up against a stack of barrels/crates (opp: higher ground)*

4    Step in a bucket of fresh/hot pitch (1 Wound, reduced movement)*

5    Fall off the dock into the drink.

After finishing Daughter of Fate and submitting far more feedback than I expected (many of them being inconsistencies like some of the notes below), I started to review the book and how certain scenes would pan out in the game. I'll try to keep things as spoiler-free as possible and focus solely on the mechanics.

Hello,

I would like your opinion about Sanderis: Ice Deal.

Specifically the Minor Favor, that:

"Cause a character or object the losejas touches to be frozen solid, encased in a thin layer of ice. While encased, the character or object cannot be harmed or destroyed directly." (pg 255)

Let's suppose that in a combat (Action Sequence), the hero waited for the right moment to act, and in his action, the hero spends a Heroi Point and 3 raises, one to activate the favor, and another two to touch the villain.
