I need a little help. I'm playing around with a class of consequence that has 2 different effects. So for a really bad example, this single consequence might inflict a wound AND make you drop an item. It costs 2 raises to avoid completely, but spending 1 raise to avoid one of the 2 effects should be possible, though it feels very unwieldy for the system. Any thoughts on how to simplify this?
Random musings and discussions around anything related to the 7th Sea 2nd Edition
Hello folks. IIRC, in 1st edition 7th Sea, it was mentioned that the First Prophet had a group of followers called the Witnesses (basically an expy of Jesus' 12 disciples).
Does anyone have any background information on the names of the Witnesses, and if there's any mention if any of them traveled to Eisen after the First Prophet's death?
Thanks in advance.
Question after reading "Born Under A Black Flag":
Is "Old Thean" in the Core Rules the same language as "Numan" in the novel? "Old Thean" is described as a "common" language spoken in all Thean nations, and "Numan" appears to be a similar common language in the novel for various groups in the Atabean Sea. But I wasn't sure if they are the same language using two different names, or two separate languages.
I've been running a 7th Sea game for a year now in 2nd edition. While I love the setting and even think the rules are nice and lightweight, I've begun to see a pattern in how I'm running and I'm curious how others are dealing with it.
When the game started, I called for "risk rolls" whenever a hero would attempt something that would be considered a risk (sneaking past guards, pickpocketing someone, etc). In the beginning I would assign inpromptu opportunities and consequences and the player would assign their Raises, always succeeding and usually buying off all the other things.
Hi I need to the 17th Sources and Books used to create 7th Sea RPG setting and world,

I am really quite liking this book so far. It appears to be a bit Arabian Nights, a bit Ottoman, a bit Persian and a whole chapter on the pseudo-Jewish state. It's interesting that the special thanks from the developer describes the real world analog of the region as Western Asia, since she grew up in Southeast Asia.
There are two notable new mechanics:
Could you guys tell me a few Opportunities you've offered your players in game, please? I'm not looking for suggestions but actual Opportunities you (or they) have put on the table. They don't all have to be clever, I just want to see what sort of things people are offering up in play.
Is there a 7th Sea equivalent of shakespeare? I should know this but can't find it.
So I've read a lot of posts recently about Action Sequences and people decrying that combat is bad and that players who like combat aren't enjoying the RP aspect of the game, etc. It has me scratching my head. Every single swashbuckling movie, book, or other piece of literature has combat in it. Heroes fight Villains. Heroes fight Henchmen. Heroes fight swarms of Brutes. It isn't the entire movie, but it often is critical to the movie and many times offers cool insights to the character's personality that might not otherwise come out.
Hello,
I would like to see international phonetic representations of Sarmatian special letters, as for non-Native speakers of English the way English speakers use for pronounciation is really hard for non-natives. Could the author give us International Phonetic version of pronounciation?
