am I correct that a character who purchases the Sorcery Background once for their Strega receives Read + 2 Minor Tesse + 1 Major Tessere?

And a character who takes the Background with its two Sorcery purchases receives Read, all 4 Minor Tesse, and any two major Tesse?

So now that we've gotten are first look at 2E Theah, I have some ideas about the history and tweaks to the present I want to share.  One major change is that rather than "no Hierophant" in the present, which is a bit too similar to the lack of an Eisen Imperator plot for my own purposes, I went with moving the "Avignon Captivity"/"Western Schism" to the 17th Century...

Hello,

I just figured out one problem. Foul Weather Jack is something I did not thought to exist on 2nd Edition: Investment into future Advantage. The reason is that it gives character extra story thus extra experience. As GM I would simply fix this by either limiting the story to those stories altering but not advancing character. But I have better elegant solution:

So reading over the Kickstarter comments, I'm seeing a smidge of blowback on the Wealth rules and the lack of any guidance on starting equipment, specifically weapons.  Right now, if you want to be a pistol packing band of pirates, there's no reason the whole group couldn't load up with a half dozen firearms strapped to your chest and set off to conquer the high seas.  That's gonna be fine with some people, other are chafing on that freedom a bit.  Given the space of the book, I really doubt they are going to throw in a section on starting gear.

So, like many other people probably did, one of the first things I did with these rules was to re-write my favourite PC (okay, my only PC, as I have repeatedly run 7th Sea after the first time I played).  I'm going to put him up for comments.  Anyone else feel like doing that?

Courtesy of Kevin Krupp:

I just realized, my favorite means of combat seems to be unrepresented in 2nd Ed skills list; there's no mention of using improvised weapons under either brawl or weaponry, (although, clearly Aim would be used for throwing improvised weapons). Personally, I would assume that falls under "Brawl." but I guess this is left for GM discretion?

So I've been reading the 2E rule book just released for proofing, and I'm still unhappy with dueling.

What concerns me the most is the artificial constraints placed upon duelists.  The rule remains that one can not perform the same action twice in a row, that is Slash and then Slash and while I understand the intention is to prevent the repetition of "I attack" the is no reasonable reason to constrain players such other than made up mechanics.

As I've been going through 1e, I'm trying to figure out which aspects of Theah's history and mythology I want to be "true" in my world.  I haven't run into much about Numa - Does one of the books provide detail about who they were and what they believed?  I did see that both Vendel and Crescents follow astrology that's based on their ancient myths, and I find that really intriguing.
