So, most advantages can't be doubled up.  Only 4 can that I see: Sorcery, Duelist, Reputation, and Quick Reflexes.

I'm having a problem with a corner case in backgrounds though.  Typically, if you get an advantage from backgrounds twice, you cross one off and take another of the same value.  Sorcery is called out as an exception to this.  Duelist and Reputation only show up on one background each, so they're not a problem.  But a Mousquetaire Explorer is a problem, as they both give Quick Reflexes.

I created another topic asking a few things about Parry and Risposte. I got my answers but I'm not entirely convinced so I decided to create a topic with a few things that a friend and I have noticed after toying a bit with the combat system. I don't know if a topic like this has alreday been created or if it was up to date. If it has been, you can all "booo" me and I will go cry somewhere :P

After checking the final version of the Core Rulebook, I realized I had forgotten to ask something.

As the rules state, the Parry and Risposte manoeuvres must be done on your action and after a manoeuvre that has inflicted you wounds. Why?

You can spend raises to avoid damage outside your action. Why can't you do the same with these manoeuvres? I get the feeling I'm missing the point somewhere.

Hello folks!

I have been reading these forums for a few days but today I had this urge to create an account just because of a scene that's popped up into my mind.

I wanted to share it and ask for different points of view as how would you guys do it.

Let's see...

I'm sorry but after reading this entire beta version, yes it is not completely in stone but I do not see it changing much before the final release in October, I find this system too simplified.  With it being so story-driven, why bother rolling dice.  Make it free-form like on of the dice-less systems.  If this system is trying to push a great heroic story for the players to enjoy, why bother disrupting that feeling with dice rolls?

Specifically, the Wits Glamour of the Knights of Avalon, Summon Sidhe on page 216 of the second playtest.

I'm considering making a character with the glamour, but as written, it seems impossibly vague. Not only the core book fails to really describe Seelie or Unseelie in any way, but the glamour itself doesn't give the slightest clue about the strength and abilities of the Sidhe it can summon. What does it mean to have one rank in that glamour? What does it mean to have five ranks? What kinds of Sidhe can you call upon and what are they willing to do for you?

I have a suggestion regarding dramatic sequences. I want to send it to John, but I wanted to see if others had similar concerns first.

My specific concerns with dramatic sequences are:

1) Costing an extra raise for approach change

2) Length of sequence.

Bottom line, my suggestions are:

So, the description of Sorté and Major Arcana somewhere mentions that most Strega make up their own set of Arcana.  I am wondering if we can pull out some other ideas from the ones in the book.

Courtesy of Kevin Krupp:

I just realized, my favorite means of combat seems to be unrepresented in 2nd Ed skills list; there's no mention of using improvised weapons under either brawl or weaponry, (although, clearly Aim would be used for throwing improvised weapons). Personally, I would assume that falls under "Brawl." but I guess this is left for GM discretion?
