Voage of Fortune's Star Computer RPG

A single-player, 3D, story-driven, computer roleplaying game based in the rich world of Théah as presented in John Wick’s tabletop roleplaying game, 7th Sea. We have a team of experienced storytellers, programmers and designers to bring you 10+ hours of incredible experience.

Experience the Voyage of Fortune's Star through the eyes of Captain Anzolo Zorzi across the Seven Seas.

Voyage of Fortune's Star Captain

Here are some key elements of Voyage of Fortune’s Star:

  • You primarily experience the story first-person as the captain of Fortune’s Star, Anzolo Zorzi.
  • We hope to add the overlapping storyline of the Fate Witch, Magdalena Salvaza, so that for sequences of the game she becomes the primary character under your control.
  • You have a large crew of pirates and will be able to direct their actions as well.
  • Whether you experience it only from Anzolo’s point-of-view or if we can also add Magdalena’s narrative, the story is our priority. Experienced, award-winning writers will craft a rich, dialogue-based narrative.
  • The game is built in Unreal Engine 4 and features point-and-click gameplay.
  • The game is available as a digital release, as well as in standard and collector’s boxed editions loaded with extras.
  • We’re initially developing versions for PC, Mac and Linux.
  • Digital release is to backers via Steam and also DRM-free.
  • We have many language options planned, including English, French, German and Spanish.

Nothing makes me want to support a game less than knowing time and resources are being tossed at something like this when we are still waiting on everything else from the last kickstarter. It does not help matters that I find this sort of "game" to be anathema to real rpgs.

How about the lowest tier which is $17 only? Probably, this game will get plagued by delays, like many others including "A Bard's Tale IV" but one can still hope.

Is Nocturnal Media or its design partners still working on another Kickstarter-backed project, Salamanca? I can't say I'm familiar with their other work, but the White Wolf alumns haven't had the best track record in regards to video games in the past.

For my part, this looks interesting, but I really don't have time to play it. If it gets funded, I would definitely buy a copy at some point in the next 5-10 years.

I am referring to people at JWP needing to spend time looking over shoulders.

I am skeptical that anyone from JWP will have to look at things until well after they are done with the books we're owed. Also, I doubt that, even if they did, it would represent substantial man hours, as what little advice/oversight they could provide would relate to story or aestetic, rather than anything technical.

That said, I am more concerned with the technical side of things, specifically which game studios and the like will be doing the work.

Fortune's Star is floundering and may need some able-bodied men amidships to rise above the 999th level.

I'm really not sure how I feel about this, the more I look at it. The story sounds interesting, but it does sound like a cash grab riding in the wake of the RPG. Adding physical rewards like dice and coins (designs of which would have been much more awesome with the original Kickstarter) further cheapens this.

As much as I want to see this succeed, I'm not so sure the timing and the rewards are really properly fitting. Reminds me too much of special DLC; you need to do this unrelated thing to get this specific unlock. Not impressed.

To be honest, @LibrariaNPC, I want this project to succeed, but am really concerned that the creators under-estimated the cost of a good-quality adventure game and the appetite of backers to fund something new when they are still just getting settled into the Tabletop 7th Sea 2e experience.

Plus for a computer RPG, it is much more difficult to get meaningful dialog options done properly, and even technically, getting those camera angles and fluid animation right, especially for action scenes from a third person perspective.

Sad though this may be, Fortune's Star may be sinking in the 7th Sea. Tonight, the 12th of October, with only 11 days left on the Kickstarter and just hovering above $60,000. Out of the $200,000 target, and with only about 1000 backes, the remaining $140,000 will require about 220 backers daily to put in $60. This estimate is based on the current funding by the 1000 backers so far.

The Kicktraq doesn't look great. Support has been pretty flat throughout.

Personally, if I had ANY time to play computer games I would back this. As it is, I'm still sitting on Shadowrun Returns and am maybe 2 scenes in after two years. I just don't have time to disappear into the office and bang out a CRPG. So I just can't justify the expense. On top of that, I have personal reasons not to back any Nocturnal projects. But that's a story for another day and not something anyone should really base their decisions on.

I really do hate to see this fail, but I really can't muster up the interest to invest in it.

The RPG is great, I love RPGs even when I don't play them a ton, there's still a physical book to be browsed (and this certainly has the promise of a lot of books to browse through in the coming months)

But I tend to have different expectations for video games. Most of the video games I go for have a lot of replayability, as it guarantees a lot of bang for my buck.

This doesn't have that, it's advertised as a single story which doesn't even have character creation, there's very little reason to suspect that I'd get much enjoyment out of the game once I'd finished it, which lowers its value for me a great deal.

Not to mention, I'm just not really fired up by what I see. Mostly it's just some hacking and slashing in a setting I like. And I do like that setting, don't get me wrong. But I need more than that to spend my money on it.

Again, I'm sorry, I love the idea of 7th Sea getting more attention, but I'm can't just spend my money on the franchise alone, there has to be evidence of an interesting and enjoyable product attached, and I'm not sure that's been proven here.

Maybe better luck on that Board game? That seemed interesting.
