Revisionist History
history, theah

Ok, so here's a potential project for some enterprising soul.  It's clear from reading through the different nation entries that the history of Théah in 2nd edition has changed in subtle ways.  The War of the Cross may have happened earlier.  The Montaigne invasion of Castille has been repelled.  There are probably a dozen more changes that I missed.

Has anyone thought to go through th historical timeline from the 1st edition Players Guide (and Companion) and update it with the changes elluded to in the new edition.  I expect we may see something like it in the Nations of Théah book, but that's not going to be available until next summer.  Having something functional earlier than that would sure be a help for us beligered GMs.

Thoughts?  Maybe do a group project here?

That's a wonderful idea.  I'd be happy to help with that.  For GMs who expect to run a game fusing the two versions of Theah, it would be very helpful to see all the changes listed on one sheet.

Start with the timelines posted in Montaigne revolution and work from there. I would venture it is equally likely that there are things on the way to happening as much as stuff that was revised out. ( the Montaigne invasion may well be pending).

I kind of figured since the game has jettisoned the metaplot and gone back to 1668 that it would be wiser to start from there.  I fully expect the 2 Nations books to address the history issue, but until then it would be nice to have a rough timeline at the very least.

It's also worth pointing out items that aren't necessarily revised, just different.  For example, I don't think we know any details about how or when the most recent Hierophant died, but we do know in 2e that it was a woman (unlike 1e).

Or better yet, there is this!  That's going to be worlds easier to edit.

And True Iskandar is right.  So take an easy hand with deleting passages.  Track changes and/or use strike throughs for things we change.  Maybe color code stuff that is suspect but we can confirm a real change yet.
