Ship's Manifest
character sheet, ship

Ok, so I'm working on a ship's manifest sheet.  It's going to have most of the major positions represented, space permitting.  For the major positions, I'm including the following details:

  • Name
  • Nationality
  • Personality
  • (Dominant) Trait (No stats, just record the character's highest Trait.  Like, Brawn.  That's it.)

Am I missing anything?  What else would be helpful here?

Arcana (Hubris and Virtue)

Major Advantages (Things that aren't 'normal' - e.g. Signature Item, Sorcery, Dueling Style, etc)

Catch Phrase

I wasn't going to include those since crew really aren't meant to be characters, but brutes.  Still, I expect that people are going to give characterizations to the sailors and officers who have certain posts.  I can put those things in there, but they seem somewhat superfluous don't they?

Well I assumed when you said major position, it was things like the Captain, Bosun, Quartermaster, Master Gunner, etc. Those positions the players may interact with. Maybe you don't need all those but if you are creating something that might go into an adventure or be given to someone else, having an idea of those major characters' dispositions in game terms might help run them, provide opportunities or risks. It really depends on what this is for.

Also, having space for something and not using it is better than not having the space if you want to include it :) Your sheets are always well done!

Thanks, Harliquinn (BTW, are you the same Harliquinn from the PCI boards?)

Here is a VERY rough draft of where the sheet is.  It might give you a better idea of what I'm doing.  The basic idea is to have something the players can fill out as they go.  You need a Master-at-Arms?  Give her a name and personality and roll on.  Does anyone else like that the roles for each station are spelled out on the sheet?

I see your point about providing space for details whether or not they ever get used.  Right now, there are plenty of directions this sheet can go.  But I really want to maximize its utility for everyone.

On a related note, I'm starting to ponder a ship sheet to go along with this.  I'm thinking I am include some of the suggested action "maneuvers" from the book, as well as details on different types of shot (from Savage Worlds: Pirates of the Spanish Main).  But first I want to get the manifest knocked out.

Beautiful work @BluSponge. I like the way you split the primary crew members (like the cast of the U.S.S. Enterprise) on page-1 and then for those really into their naval adventures, the additional crew on page-2. Finally, a Character Sheet to bring the "sea" back into 7th Sea. crying (tears of joy not sorrow).

I like the idea of a personality quirk. The sneak, gambler, loyal but naive... That sort of thing. Let's a GM quickly remember behavior patterns for role-playing.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.  I've finished the Manifest and updated the file.  The link should still work, but just in case, you can use this one.

Aside from formatting changes, I added some space for "details" under most of the officers.  Hopefully this will give people space to add in some extra material about key members of the crew.  I'm going to try and get a form fillable version done eventually.  So please, go out and use it in your games.  Once you've trashed a few copies, come back and let me know what else it needs.

Blu!

You need to create a 7th Sea Placemat like you did for Witch Hunter, with sections for your Traits, Skills, Hero Points, Raises, etc.
