Kickstarter Update 34

QUOTE: John Wick Presents (published 2016-04-27, Wednesday)

Swashbuckling Adventures PDF Release

 Hey everyone!

We've worked with DTRPG and Backerkit to get all the Swashbuckling Adventures PDFs out today. Here's how it works:

1) Sometime today, you'll get an email from Backerkit with a coupon code for the Swashbuckling Adventures Bundle at DTRPG. If you don't get the email by tonight, log in to your Backerkit and the code will be there.

2) Go to DTRPG and find this bundle:

http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/181187/7th-Sea-Swashbuckling-Adventures-BUNDLE

Add the bundle to your cart and enter the coupon code. When you check out the cost of the bundle will be reduced to $0.00.

3) Once you've checked out, you can download the files at any time. DTRPG will keep them in your library!

Thanks for everyone's patience with this! We're excited to get these PDFs out to you!

Did the download today.  Everything was smooth sailing this time.  But it's strange, it seems like the bundle includes everything except the core SA soucebook.  Wonder if that was intentional.

To answer my own question, John said on a Kickstarter comment that they don't have the rights to the core book and are in discussions with AEG.

You don't need it. The d20 version does not do any justice to the system, the sourcebooks are dual stated, and it does not play well with other d20 settings because the advantages to replace armor are unbalanced.

Because the Swashbuckling Adventures book contains the full d20 rules set, it is likely not something AEG could just hand over without getting many lawyers involved for at least a minute; as it is a little-liked part of a now obsolete system and edition, my guess is the cost-benefit for it was not right. I don't hear much hue and cry for "we want d20!"... I think people want the books mostly for the setting.

Yeah, I couldn't care less about the d20 stuff. They are redact those sections for all I care. I'm just interested in any new fluff and rules for the original rules.

Well then you would have a completely redacted book to the best of my recollection. There's definitely nothing ruleswise that pertains to the original rules and all the 'fluff' is catching people who had never played any 7th Sea at all up to the point that it was in the original d10 stuff. Any d20 fluff that is new is in the books that were released in this latest batch.

There was nothing in that book you want to see. It's a Cliff's notes version of the fluff.

People are not exaggerating: "useless" is a fairly accurate word for the book.

Not quite. Still have the newsletter adventures floating in the wind. There are 4-5 of those about.

Are those the Crow's Nest publications?  I managed to track down #0, but no others.

There are both the NOM newsletters (4) and the Crow's Nest (8). Check the Temple forum; we have all of them there except for 5 and the final article of 0. That's pretty much the only way to get them unless you manage to nab them off eBay (Jack Harding also has them at 7thsea.info.) if anyone has 5 or the last bit of 0, let me know, as I'd love to finish archiving them. (Also if they ever end up on drive thru we'll take them down; we only have them there because you can't get them any other way.)
