Schattenmann in 2e
Eisen, monster, Schwartz Walden

Any ideas on porting the Schattenmann (Eisen p120; heroes monsters and villains p57) over to 2e?

He's pretty much a giant plot device, not a random beastie to be fought just for kicks.  Honestly, he works better as a story element that lacks stats entirely.  If the PCs do encounter him, they should generally flee from something so bizarrely different and monstrous, and unless they've done something to directly provoke it, the Schattenmann should let them be.

Agreed. He's horrible and appears to take souls or offer deals. He is the horror movie monster you survive, not the one you fight. If you do fight him, it's by finding a way to put him in check for now not conventionally.

A party's best bet is to have a big enough source of light to keep Schattenmann at bay until sunrise, and then leg it out of the area as fast as they can manage before the sun sets again.

Or you invoke the Major Favor of a Deivas and hope/pray the cost of that particular favor isn't too steep.

Talking your way out of an encounter is probably going to involve a deal that holds corruption. And let's remember, the forest crosses national borders the schattenman does not acknowledge.
